I more dislike having the empty windshield. Other than that the headlight eyes are cool. When you have the empty windshield though then you feel as if someone should be driving the car which as we all know is not the case. These are completely independent free-thinnking beings and putting the eyes ...

I'm not quite sure. Something about the eyes. Shocked Especially on the tow truck. I must admit I know what you mean. There's something empty about them, though that is also part of the character's expression in this specific shot I think, so I had to keep it that way. It's less there with the bigg...

Good point there, Meg. I must agree that headlights as eyes make for a smaller face that is more diffcult to have communicate expressively. Ofcourse, one solution would be to make the features -more specifically the eyes- larger. That increases likeability and makes the expression easier to read. ht...

I just read another topic on Cars here (The Coincidence? I think not! topic) and couldn't help but still be bothered by the windshield eyes. Since I haven't seen anyone give it a try, I thought I'd do a quick impression of what the character would have looked like with the more conventional 'headlig...

Aside from the resemblance with Madagascar (geez!) this film just has 'direct to video' written all over it. This is a sad, sad production that quite literally insults the good taste of moviegoers. Do they think that just because it has the Disney stamp on it, is computer animated and made for child...

Like Ben said, for as much as I know, pretty much the only way is working your way up in a studio, or getting noticed for a well made animated short. The point is... if you want to direct features, prepare for at least 15 years of hard work in a studio as something else. Your first goal should be ge...

That probably depends on whether or not the Dreamworks brand will remain. If it will, I would not expect any changes in the DW sites in the next year or so. If Universal takes over completely, there is no way they won't change the sites. Chances are however, that the animation site will become part ...

Wow... it's STILL crap! That's not even close to being a well designed interface (with some flaky actionscript programming as well...). If you're gonna use Flash, use it in a way that really uses the possibilities of the platform. This site (even aside from the lousy interface) might just as well ha...

Thanks Ben! I wouldn't know about American Dog (IMDB only lists Chris Sanders so far), but it comes as no surprise to me that Gaskill would have no difficulties switching to 3D, Art Direction would still apply in more or less the same way as in 2D. Very nice to see Sanders and Gaskill working on the...

Anybody what Andy Gaskill is working on?
Is he even still at Disney? I'm a HUGE fan of this man's work, and am very eager to know what new production I can look forward to seeing his art direction in again. Are there people here working at the studios who know?

DisneyToon Studios Australia going strong (?)
2D animators wanted at DisneyToon The studio is looking for 2D animators for feature and direct-to-video animation. Apparently, 2D is anything but dead for Disney Australia! Slightly weird is their studio description: DisneyToon Studios Australia (formerly Walt Disney Animation Australia) is unques...
