Coming late to the party: I've had the special edition set for a few months and here are my thoughts: #1) There is nothing of interest on the second disc at all :( #2) As pointed out, the artwork is terrible (go see the original movie poster...) #3) Yea! Not formatted to fit my TV! #4) Sort of odd c...

Personally I think watching Totoro subtitled helps tremendously since the girls talk only about a quarter as much. Totoro is certainly one of my favorite things from Ghibli (along with Mononoke), but if you are looking for more upbeat, why not Castle in the Sky or the somewhat more adult Porco Rosso...

That's an interesting point about the film being confusing. In truth, I thought the intro alleviated all possible confusion but many people have said they were still confused. Again the complaint has been about the daemons which I found very intuitive (interestingly enough, the book doesn't even bot...

Although I can't say I'm quite jumping up and down (I actually much prefer the pre-LOTR peter jackson); the Hobbit is a story I like quite a bit more than LOTR (accessible, short, less poetry, etc.) I would definitely enjoy seeing a good movie of this, though to be honest, I hope it isn't exactly th...

So is it more or less confirmed that this film was killed off by what I'm calling (no offense to be taken please) 'the Christian early warning system' (IE the same one used during Last Temptation of Christ, etc.)? I don't even mean that anyone is to blame if this is true (why would a family that is ...

Saw the film and enjoyed it. Currently reading the books. Doing things in this order definitely reveals how cut down the film is (which isn't necessarily a bad thing.) Honestly I found it a more enjoyable film than Narnia, but that might not be saying too much since I think those are very difficult ...

Finally saw this film and can't think of where else to share my opinion. I fully understand coming from low expectations and then finding that FA is a surprisingly enjoyable film, but I can't agree with so many others here that this is up to Aardman's standards. There's a lot of room for opinion her...

And back to Ratitouille... Not much to say after 72 pages, but this one is definitely my favorite pixar and the best US animated film I've seen in a long time. Of course, Pixar has just been on a non-stop roll (well, can't quite say that coz I haven't seen Cars yet.) Toy Story 2, Monsters, Nemo and ...

Not to be the negative person here, but it seems like nothing can come of this but bad things. It isn't as though hollywood knew what to do with Godzilla. As a fan of Tezuka and the 60's and 80's series, I don't even care for the 2003 remake. How this US made, CG movie will fair--well, I think I kno...

All this said, I went -all-the-way- and watched Bambi on my projector (65" diagnal) and really can't describe the experience. Bambi will remain for me one of the greatest animated films of all time, but to see it in this way is closest/truest to the way it was meant to be experienced. I'm only happy...
